Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a cost-effective and versatile synthetic polymer, but it suffers from significant performance limitations. These include poor thermal stability, resulting in heat-triggered degradation; plasticizer migration in flexible PVC, leading to material degradation, health risks, and environmental pollution; and chemical instability that varies between rigid and flexible PVC. Additionally, PVC exhibits inherent brittleness, low-temperature sensitivity, poor weather resistance, and challenges in recycling and disposal due to toxic byproducts. Despite its widespread use, these drawbacks limit its application suitability, especially in environments demanding durability and safety.
